I enjoy reading about what others use, so i thought i should write about my own as a first post.
Software
- VSCode - the only text editor i use and i've been using it for the past 7 or so years. I currently have 2 workspaces, 1 for work and 1 for my personal projects and each has their own editor configuration and plugins.
- 1Password - All my passwords and secrets go here. I recently started using 1password-cli to set environment variables.
- Raycast - Spotlight on crack. I switched over from Alfred this year due to its simplicity and design.
- Obsidian - I use it to create daily notes and organize my zettelkasten.
- iTerm2 - tried some alternatives like hyper but i keep coming back to iterm2.
Tech
- Go - i've been writing Go microservices since 2017 and i still enjoy it. Sometimes error handling can be annoying but the tooling and concurrency model are amazing.
- React - I first started using react around 6 years ago with bootstrap css. Nowadays i use remix for static stuff and Vitejs for SPA.
- Kubernetes - both a heavy user and administrator at work.
- GCP - use it daily for work with setup declared in terraform
- Vercel + Nextjs- use it for personal stuff. Used fly.io before, but vercel is just easier to use with instant deployments.
Hardware
- M3 Pro Macbook Pro 14inch 18GB - Personal stuff goes here.
- HHKB Hybrid Type-S Keyboard- Bluetooth mechanical keyboard with topre switches. It feels really good typing on it and isn't obnoxiously loud, like blue Cherry MX switches. There are no arrow keys, and the "`" key is located at the top right which took me some time to get used to.
- LG Ultrafine 5k - I've had a studio display back in japan but sold it when i moved to the US. I've been using the LG ultrafine 5k for the past 2 years and i love it. Bought used for $500 or so from mercari.
- iPad Pro m1 - I use it as a MacBook sidecar, writing notes, and media consumption. The battery life is amazing and i wish i could use it for doing light coding as well.
- Apple Watch - Its great for working out and telling time lol. I could live without it though.
- AirPods Pro - Best and most convenient earphones i've ever had. I lost 1 pair before and instantly bought one again. I've also had the AirPods Max which has amazing sound quality, but it just cant beat the convenience of the AirPods pro so i sold it. I will probably preorder the next generation one too.
- Apollo Solo TB3 Audio interface + shure sm57 + sony mdr-7506 - bought it for recording music but im mainly using it for work meetings. The quality is amazing!
